The role of Business Development Manager is to develop, maintain and grown commercial opportunities for our UK business across the brands GPnotebook, Nursing notebook, Pharmacy notebook, Updates In, Chronic Conditions as well as bespoke.

The BDM is responsible for sales and sponsorship across all of our portfolio including web and email, TV, podcast, medical education, bespoke activities and national and regional conferences.

Client Support

  • To manage and have full responsibility for sales-based activity for the core brands highlighted above. This includes display, online, events, bespoke and Medical
  • To develop sales opportunities for the portfolio through collaboration with clients, sponsors, KOLs and other clinicians. This includes the development of new business opportunities driving and developing accounts and new
  • To ‘own’ and update weekly sales reporting for the UK business and provide regular reports for senior management, accurately recording the financial and revenue activity of the business.
  • To develop and prepare comprehensive sales proposals through collaboration with the projects team and management accounts, to ensure profitability is
  • To work with other departments to ensure revenue-raising opportunities are maximised.
  • To work closely with the events team to ensure smooth running of our extensive UK
  • To liaise closely with the marketing, project management and scientific to ensure client expectations are met in terms of quality and
  • To develop and maintain appropriate sales materials for the business, including media information, PowerPoint presentations and promotional

Experience

  • Must have 3 years+ experience working in client-facing sales roles 
  • Evidence of selling and presenting to senior marketing executives of large multi-national companies
  • Creative selling and evidence of providing integrated package sales to clients
  • Understanding of editorial integrity and customer/client requirements
  • History of online sales experience
  • Evidence of working with different internal departments to ensure client needs and expectations are met

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of medical markets
  • Understanding of the budgetary process and how cost margins affect pricing
  • Working across multi-level sales process (web, digital, events)

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a passion for accuracy
  • Excellent face-to-face and presentation skills
  • Exceptionally organised with ability to prioritise competing workloads and remain calm under pressure
